Controversy surrounding the true ownership of the Sh20million 42 seater bus ‘donated’ to Gor Mahia FC by Information Communication Technology Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owallo spiraled after details at the National Transport Authority (NTSA) show the much publicised automobile is registered under the Eliud Owalo Foundation and not the football club, The Informer Media Group can authoritatively reveal.
The new revelation sparked mixed controversies on social media with some people saying the bus cannot be auctioned this time round while others alleged that any misunderstanding between Gor Mahia leadership and CS Owallo could lead to the bus being taken back.
“The new Gor Mahia bus is registered under the Eliud Owalo Foundation. This means club creditor cannot auction it to recoup money owed to them by the club.” X user OmwambaKe stated.
“The correct naming of the bus should be Eliud Owalo Foundation bus available for free transport to Gor Mahia football club. Say it with me,” Gabriel Oguda said on X.
This comes as the club Chairman Ambrose Rachier issued a stern warning over auction of the bus like the previous one.
“We have ensured that this one [new bus] you will not be able to reach it. Don’t waste your time as a lawyer, and my deputy is a lawyer. So don’t try it.” Rachier stated.
Over the weekend, hundreds of K’gallo fans braved the chilly weather to receive the 20 Million worth bus at the Moi International Stadium, Kasarani.
The CS promised to build a house and a stadium for the club.
“I have delivered my promise to the club. Now let’s focus on having a clubhouse and a modern stadium to ensure that K’gallo gets to the level of other big clubs.” Owallo remarked.
In March this year, the small bus that was owned by Gor Mahia was actioned by Charlton Auctioneers by a media advertisement.
The aforementioned automobile, with the license plate KBP 040V, will be sold as ordered by the court as-an in condition to pay a former player of the club Wellington Ochieng’ who had filed a petition after the club ended his contract without paying him.
The auction of their team bus only added to their woes, forcing the club’s management to scramble for alternative transportation options for their players to and from training and matches.
