Scores of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers have been injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack along the Milimani Baure road in the volatile Lamu county
The Kenya Defence Forces KDF has condemned criminal activities that have been disrupting movement and sabotage of socio-economic stability in Lamu County.
At the time, the KDF soldiers were on patrol when they ran over an IED believed to have been planted by the Al Shabaab insurgents who have continued to reign terror in the region.
The attack occurred on September 10, 2023.
The injured soldiers were then airlifted to Manda Base Hospital for medical care.
In a statement released yesterday, KDF has called upon residents to share information with relevant security agencies on any suspicious persons and any criminal activity in efforts to improve security in the region.

“KDF calls upon the residents to share information with the security agencies on these criminal elements who lurk in their communities,” KDF said.
The Department of Defence did not confirm fatalities.
In the recent past, Lamu has been turned into an Al Shabaab playing field where they have staged horrific attacks in targeted homestead including slaughtering men and youthful boys in the area before setting homes ablaze.
The attackers believed to be hiding in the Boni Forests have also been stealing herds of goats and food supplies from victims stores in what is believed to be an effort to replenish their stocks in their hideouts.
