The Defence Principal Secretary Patrick Mariru yesterday made inspection tour to PCEA Tumutumu and the Naromoru Level IV Hospitals in Nyeri County that have been renovated by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in conjunction with the Ministry of Health (MoH).
The two are among eight health facilities renovated by the Directorate of Medical Services (DMS) and the Infrastructure Branch from the Defence Headquarters in line with MoD’s secondary mandate of supporting civil authorities whenever called upon.
The two Ministries in partnership with select county governments have been tasked with the responsibility of repairing and constructing new blocks, equipping and reticulation of the health facilities for better service delivery to the public.
Other hospitals getting a face lift include Githunguri Sub County Hospital, Engineer Hospital, Keroka Hospital, Busia Referral Hospital, Sura Adoru Dispensary and the Eldas Sub County Hospital.
The PS expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing works where Tumutumu Hospital is approximately Hospital at 74 per cent complete while Naromoru Hospital has been finalised.
During the working tour the PS reiterated MoD’s full support to complete all the ongoing projects as assigned in support of the citizenry.
