The Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) will begin interviews for 11 candidates shortlisted to represent parliamentarians in the selection panel that will superintend the recruitment of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries (IEBC) chairperson and five commissioners.
Senate Clerk and PSC Secretary Jeremiah Nyegenye had invited members of the public to submit their views on the suitability of the candidates to serve on the panel.
The panel’s main task is to find suitable candidates to replace ex-IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati who retired after serving a six year non-renewable term together with commissioners Boya Molu and Ya-kub Guliye.
Vice-chairperson Juliana Cherera and commissioners Francis Wanderi and Justus Nyang’aya resigned after being accused of attempting to subvert the will of the people with regard to the August 9 presidential elections.
They disowned results that were announced by IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati.
Their positions were declared vacant by President William Ruto in October 2022.
