Nakuru gubernatorial aspirant John Mututho now wants modern technology used as one way of increasing fish production in Lake Naivasha.
Mututho mooted at the idea of the introduction of Cage Fishing noting that it would significantly improve production of the commodity that is now a preferred delicacy in most parts of the country.
The former Naivasha MP said Cage fishing was the way to go and would see less space of the lake used and the rest put into tourism activities.
According to him, the current system of fishing was outdated, costly and one that required more time as opposed to the new methods.
“We need a serious Cage system of fishing in this lake if we have to increase the value of the product that for now is being taken to Nairobi and other areas”.
Mututho termed the fish restocking exercise that is currently ongoing in the lake as archaic adding that modern countries had embraced new technologies and have seen the production increased.
