City residents have been assured of free water as Independent candidate Peter Kenneth vows to fight off cartels if he clinches Nairobi Governor Seat in the August 8 poll.
Kenneth today said he will “fight tooth and nail” to ensure basic amenities such as water, health and education are at Nairobian’s disposal while accusing the current leadership of hoarding them to fleece residents.
“Since time immemorial water has been a free commodity for city residents but its price has skyrocketed since cartels are in collusion with current crop of leaders to do business,” Kenneth said.
“It is appalling to see people especially slum dwellers paying a price for poor leadership. I will fight to see city hall severs ties with these cartels,” he said while speaking in Makadara constituency as the campaigns enter the homestretch and freebies hot in the menu.
“Gatanga, where I hail from, feeds the city with surplus water. Having been a member of parliament i understand the dynamics in the city water sector. These ingenious leaders have perfected the art of blocking and creating an artificial shortage to reap from,” he added.
Kenneth further said the education and health sectors in Nairobi are at all time low with people in charge deliberately running them down so that residents can to turn to “their” private amenities for services.
