A major surgery by the Kenya Power shareholders has seen all former directors defending their positions at the board kicked out while President William Ruto’s key allies elected to their positions.
In changes announced during the power distributor’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held yesterday, seven new directors have been elected.
Among those elected to the Kenya Power board were lawyers Joy Brenda Masinde who garnered 982,289,124 votes, Duncan Ojwang with 1,002,565,056 votes, and Logan Hambrick who played a key role in the election of President William Ruto with 983,462,853 votes.
Dr. Ojwang’ is a city lawyer who was part of Ruto’s presidential petition legal team.
He provided political perspectives on Ruto’s possible victory in the run up to the August 9 general elections.
According to a statement from Kenya Power Kangogo who was an ally of Ruto garnered 980,732,882 votes to become one of the seven directors.
He had unsuccessfully ran for the Uasin Gishu UDA ticket for governor.
Others were National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njoroge Ndung’u (1,044,813,650) and his Energy counterpart Alex Wachira who garnered 1,044,859,288.
Justice Aaro Ringera was kicked out as director after garnering 63,460,589 votes.
James Gitiba defended his seat unsuccessfully by garnering 67,005,336 votes and Sarah Mbwaya who scored 69,069,523 votes.
Albert Rotich on the other hand managed 25,928,035 votes.
