The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Kenya Police Service (DIG-KPS) Edward Mbugua has today presided over the handing over of a Sh6million cheque to Kenya Police Football Club by Local airline, Fly 748 Managing Director (MD) Moses Mwangi at Vigilance House.
Mbugua was accompanied by Director of Police Reforms at Vigilance House Munga Nyale
Mwangi congratulated the men in uniform’s football club for putting in a spirited fight during last season Football Kenya Federation’s Kenya Premier League which the police finished in the 9th position.
We are pleased to present to the Kenya Police Football club a cheque worth Sh6million and we look forward to sponsoring the sports industry as we nature talent. The team outshined expectations to finish in the position they did being one of the promoted from the second division tier,” observed Mwangi.
Mbugua thanked the airline for recognising the sportsmen and promised to work together moving forward.
“Let me thank the Fly 748 airline for this wonderful move… Let me assure you of total cooperation as you fly Kenyan and international skies,” argued Mbugua
Mbugua, whose term in office was extended in November 2019 for four years is one of the two senior most officers in the National Police Service set to retire next year in July with the move by the Inspector General of police Japhet Koome to appointed Miriam Muli to the position of Deputy Inspector-General in acting capacity followed news that Mbugua had been taken ill and had proceeded to his sick-leave.
“Let me be clear that I am still in office and ignore rumors making circulation out there that the DIG (Mbugua) has been shown the exit door from the police service,” Mbugua said.
