At least two people have been killed after an aircraft they were flying in crashed within Tsavo National Park.
According to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), the plane, a fixed-wing aircraft belonging to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT), crashed at 7:15 a.m. while on patrol in the park’s north-eastern boundary, killing all of its occupants.
The occupants on board, a pilot identified as Mark Jenkins and a co-pilot died instantly.
They were trying to drive cattle that included cows, camels and goats out of the park when the incident happened.
“KWS wishes to express our deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of the deceased,” KWS said in a statement.
Coast regional police officer Titus Karuri said investigations into the cause of the accident were underway.
