The Rwandan government has adjusted working hours in the country where official working hours will start from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm from which adds up to eight hours a day.
This followed a Cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame at Urugwiro Village where the Cabinet also approved school hours from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.
“School hours will be 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. Official working hours will be eight hours, from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm (excluding a one-hour lunch break), including a flexible hour between 8.00 am and 9.00 am, where an employee may work,” read a statement from the Prime Minister.
According to the statement, the decisions to adjust school and working hours in Rwanda is aimed at promoting quality education, as well as improving both workplace productivity and family wellbeing.
Additionally, essential services to the public will remain available throughout the day effectively from January next year.
The Cabinet also approved a Presidential order granting pardon to 12 persons convicted of various offences and a Ministerial order granting release on parole to 802 persons convicted of various offences.
The agreement between the Rwandan government and the Green Climate Fund on privileges and immunities of the Green Climate Fund and also to host country agreement between the government of Rwanda and the East African Communications Organisation (EACO) was also approved by the Cabinet.
