Police in Nyatieko Police Station, Kisii County are holding a 34 years old man who hacked his elderly mother aged 74 years old to death over suspected land row triggered by an altercation over a plate of ugali.
The deceased, Jane Kemunto was killed in Bomeroka village in Kitutu Chache South Constituency.
She was stabbed multiple times to the head and her right hand chopped off.
She succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
“The woman was found in a pool of blood with her right hand hacked. She had several deep cuts in the head.” Preliminary police findings show.
According to neighbours, the deceased and her sone had frosty relations occasioned by disagreements over a parcel of land.
The suspect, Innocent Oguongo Monyenyea was cornered by members of the public before he was frog-matched to Nyatieko Police station in Kisii county.
He will be arraigned to face murder charges.
Officers who visited the scene and recovered weapons that they believe were used to commit the crime including a grass slasher and a hammer.
The body of the deceased is lying at the facility’s morgue awaiting postmortem examination.
