Laikipia governor Joshua Irungu has proposed a total ban on sale of alcoholic drinks on the eve of August 8 elections to allow the youths to fully participate in the exercise.
Irungu noted that it would be advisable for all those who drink alcohol to give it a break on August 7 so that by the morning of 8th they will be sober to line up and elect good leaders.
Addressing hundreds of youths during the Laikipia Open Volleyball tournament at Nanyuki Stadium the governor urged youths in the area to also shun being bought cheap liquor by politicians in order to disrupt their opponent’s campaign meetings.
“Kenyans are now well empowered with civic education and are well informed on how to pick their leaders and no one will benefit from lying to the electorate through propaganda,” he noted.
The Laikipia gubernatorial Jubilee flag bearer who will fight it out with former industrialization assistant minister Ndiritu Muriithi who will run as an independent candidate said that Laikipians will give him a second chance to complete the already started projects.
