Kenya National Rugby Sevens Team Shujaa is out of the Hong Kong seven outing after losing 7-10 to Uruguay in the 13th place semifinals and after 0-43 loss to New Zealand in the Challenge Trophy quarterfinals.
Despite heading to the Asian nation with heads held high after the inclusion of new blood roped in from the National Sevens Circuit, coach Damian McGrath chargers could not match the tempo of the European and American teams who dominated all the matches.
Shujaa began the Hong Kong leg on the wrong foot on Friday’s pool D opener when they lost 28-12 to Ireland.
In yesterday’s early kick off match against Argentina Shujaa started brightly leading 7-0 before failing to maintain the tempo in the 26-7 defeat in that crucial match against the south Americans.
Matter went from bad to worse for the Kenyans after recording yet another loss in the final pool D fixture against Canada narrowly losing 19-14.
