Police have launched probe in a case where a 56-year-old man committed suicide after he allegedly murdered his wife and injured his daughter in Kimende town, Lari sub-county.
It was reported that the man went to his wife’s house where they had a disagreement after having a talk and since he was armed with a panga, he slashed both his wife and daughter.
Afterwards, he went away and hung himself in a nearby tree.
Sub-county police commander Adamson Furaha confirmed the incident saying the woman died on the spot and her husband left the house believing he had killed both the mother and the daughter.
He said the girl was rushed to Tigoni Sub-county hospital while her father’s body was found hanging on a tree near their rental house.
“We are yet to establish the disagreement that the two had that led to the man killing his wife and leaving their daughter badly injured,” he said.
According to a neighbor, the couple had been having problems that made them seek advice from the chief’s office where later on, the woman left the man and rented a house nearby where the incident happened.
Their bodies were taken to Tigoni hospital mortuary as investigations commenced.
