Embattled lawyer Miguna Miguna has affirmed to seek justice against those who ordered his deportation, contending that he was treated unfairly and had his rights grossly violated.
While attending a thanksgiving mass in Ahero, Kisumu county yesterday, he stated that although immediate former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government was in position to revoke the red alert issued against him, which prevented him from entering the country for the previous four years, it did nothing to stop the action.
“We will work to obtain justice because without it, there can never be peace or healing. Justice must be the foundation of peace; peace and reconciliation cannot be built on untruths, lies, propaganda, or political smear campaigns, as they have been for the past five years. Coming home is not a privilege for me; it is a legal obligation “Miguna stated.
“In law, you cannot remove anyone born in any country to another country for any reason. The incident made me undergo the worst ever ordeal that anyone could only imagine,” he added.
Miguna was exiled in 2018 for performing a mock swearing in ceremony for Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga as the ‘Peoples’ President’.
His passport was revoked following orders from the country’s administration at the time which prevented him from entering the country.
Last month, Miguna announced on social media that the present administration had given him a passport and had promised to return to free the Luo people from what he called political restraints.
