Police in Likoni, Mombasa county have launched investigations to establish source of leaflets circulating in the area calling on non locals to leave the area before the August 8 General elections.
Likoni police OCPD Willy Simba said the leafleats which were hand written were spotted by residents in various points of Mtongwe.
“The papers were dropped in various houses within Mtongwe ,while others were dropped in the streets” he said
Simba said that though they were yet to arrest anyone in connection with the said leaflets police were taking the issue,with great concerns and the suspects would soon be arrested.
“We cannot allow,some elements in the society to disrupt peace and start displacing people barely afew days to the election we are in hot pursuit of the suspects” said Simba.
The leaflets which were authored,in Swahili indicated that criminal groups of Wakali kwanza,wakali kwao,Mrc,wajukuu was babu among others with the help of Alshaabab would maim and kill non locals if they failed to leave the area.
Further the leaflets disclosed that the local criminal gangs,were undergoing military training in preparedness of war come August 8.
