As Kirinyaga governor Anne Mumbi Waiguru Kamotho takes over the mantle of leadership as the Council of Governors (CoG) chairperson, a new crop of leaders has been elected as chairmen of the various committees to help steer the third term of devolution in the country.
The council will be chaired by Kirinyaga Governor Anne Mumbi Waiguru, with Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi serving as vice chair.
The whip will be Nandi County Governor Stephen Sang.
The chairpersons of various committees are as follows;
Finance, Planning and Economic Affairs Committee – Fernandes Barasa
Health Committee – Muthomi Njuki
Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives Committee – Kenneth Lusaka
Water, Forestry and Natural Resources Management Committee – Andrew Mwadime
Land, Housing and Urban Development Committee – Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o
Legal, Constitutional Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations Committee – Mutula Kilonzo Jr
Education Committee – Erick Mutai
Gender, Youth, Culture, Sports and Social Services Committee – Simon Kachapin
Trade, Industry, Manufacturing and Enterprise Development Committee – Wavinya Ndeti
Environment and Climate Change Committee – Wilber Ottichilo
Human Resource, Labour and Social Welfare Committee – Sakaja Arthur Johnson
Blue Economy Committee – Issa Abdalla Timamy
Energy, Roads, Transport and Infrastructure Committee – Paul Kimani Wamatangi
Arid, Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) and Disaster Management Committee – Nathif A. Jama
Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Committee – Cecily Mbarire
ICT and Knowledge Management – Wisley Rotich
Security and Foreign Affairs Committee – Dr. Dhadho Gaddae Godhana
Tourism and Wildlife Committee –Patrick Ole Ntutu
The Vice Chairperson of the Council of Governors shall lead the committee that brings together the Executive and the Chairpersons of all Committees, the Liaison, Management, and Resource Management Committee.
The leadership is expected to steer the council for the next one year.
