Kimilili Member of Parliament (MP) Didmus Barasa has accused teachers of exploiting parents in the guise of implementing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) curriculum.
Barasa asserted that President William Ruto should scrap the CBC curriculum saying it is proving to be a burden to Kenyan parents.
The MP alleged that teachers have been asking students to carry with them chickens to school for practical’s only for them to use them as meals at their homes.
“We want the CBC to be scrapped immediately because the teachers are manipulating the situation and eaten all the parents chicken in the name of homework and education model,” Barasa said.
According to the controversial MP, teachers ask learners to bring the birds to school for practical’s where teachers dissect the birds, remove the unnecessary, and carry the meat home to cook.
The lawmaker said this was one of the reasons President William Ruto’s administration is contemplating abolishing the CBC.
Initially, the Ruto had vowed to scrap the education system if elected the president arguing that it was confusing and costly to common Kenyans.
However, speaking at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa while launching his education blueprint, Ruto made said the Kenya Kwanza team fully supports CBC.
With the newly elected leader yet to make public his cabinet, only time can tell if the education model will be fully implemented.
