Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti has defended his four-year tenure at the senate saying he has done a lot for the county even without any financial allocation from the government.
Kivuti said that being at the Senate provided a lot of challenges in terms of service delivery since the senators do not have funds allocation for various development records as opposed to Governors, MPs and MCAs who all have development funds.
The Senator said that he did not join active politics so as to acquire wealth and status but to help the common Mwananchi in the county particularly the needy students who he had started helping even before joining politics.
Kivuti who is vying for the Embu Gubernatorial seat on a Maendeleo Chap Chap Party said that he has not been receiving his monthly salary since he joined senate as that money has been going into paying school fees to over 700 bright and needy students from the county.
Speaking at Kairuri grounds in Manyatta, where he was installed at an Embu elder, Kivuti reiterated on the unity of Embu so as to forge a united front for development to be realized.
The senator said under his leadership, he was able to lobby for the construction of 4 mega dams which will be built in Embu and turn the economy of the agricultural county to international standards.
