Embu PNU gubernatorial candidate Kithinji Kiragu has accused Embu governor Martin Wambora of being behind a plot to ensure that he is barred from being in the ballot in August elections.
This follows an order by the Constitutional and Human Rights Court that termed the nominations of PNU for the Embu Gubernatorial as null and void after four individuals petition the court on Friday last week.
Kithinji claims that Wambora is using county government resources and he has been working with four petitioners to ensure that his name is not in the ballot.
Kithinji said that is unfortunate for the governor to use public funds trying to block him from contesting.
He alleged that Wambora has set aside Sh40 million to fund the four petitioners adding that he is not scared and he will trump all those political hurdles.
He revealed that Wambora and his political inner circle are afraid of his recent inroads across Embu County.
Speaking in a rally at Kibugu market Kithinji assured Embu residents that he will be in the ballot exuding confidence that he will be the next Embu governor adding.
Kithinji accused his competitors of using tribal lines that is geared creating divisions between Embu and Mbeere community.
Kithinji is from populous Manyatta constituency and Wambora’s running mate comes from Manyatta and if Kithinji is not in the ballot Wambora will easily retains his seat.
Kithinji garnered 11,088 votes while Cyrus Njiru managed 1048 votes during the party primaries held on 7 May 2017 and Njiru has been cleared by IEBC as Independent candidate.
