A caucus of Nakuru county Jubilee Party aspirants who lost in the party primaries has called on the IEBC to extend the deadline for verification of voters in order to allow more people to verify their registration details.
Edwin Lesindany , Muriu Mbitu leading the former aspirants feared that yesterday’s deadline may lock out hundreds of thousands of voters saying the elapsed time frame may disenfranchise many citizens from the critical August 8 exercise.
Addressing a news conference in Nakuru today, the politicians observed that in the interest of better leadership, a reasonable extension would be tenable to enable IEBC to reach out to as many voters as possible.
They commended the electoral agency`s effort to sensitize the citizenry and expressed their commitment to rolling out a concerted civic education drive in the county in what they said would reach out to as many voters as they would in what they said will help avert incidents of rejection of voters at polling centers on polling the day.
