Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) George Magoha has suspended the re-opening of all Basic Education Institutions.
In his earlier directive, the CS has directed the schools to re-open on Monday 15th August 2022 but has revised that date to Thursday, August 18, 2022.
In a statement issued today, Magoha said the decision was made following the conduct of our national elections on Tuesday 9th August 2022 and the process of tallying ballots is still ongoing.
“Therefore, following further consultations I, hereby, convey the government’s decision on the suspension of re-opening of all basic education Institutions,” he added.
Earlier, Magoha had ordered the early closure of all basic Institutions on 1st August 2022 in preparedness of the elections.
The communication issued today supersedes any earlier communication on the re-opening of all basic Institutions.
