Mother and agent to French player Adrien Rabiot has reportedly left Manchester United stunned after her recent ultimatum on the English Club.
Veronique Rabiot raised the bar over her son’s transfer to Old Trafford, with the deal which she firmly insists if is not agreed upon, her son would not join.
Earlier this week, United club officials held initial talks with Veronique with in what they termed as positive talks and an agreement between the two parties seemingly closed.
The player’s mother, however, later increased her initial demands. According to il Gazzetta dello Sport, the agent is now seeking £8 million per annum in a three-year deal.
The package would also allow Rabiot to secure a bonus payment for each and every year United qualified for the Champions League.
This figure is higher than what Manchester United was willing to offer the player.
Veronique Rabiot currently wants a more guaranteed salary up front for her son. Her new proposal puts United in a bit of a dilemma over the best course of action.
The Red Devils were closing in on signing the Juventus midfielder after agreeing terms with the Italian club.
Erik Ten hag sought to bring the midfielder as an alternative transfer option to Barcelona’s Frenkie De Jong after his attempts to buy the former Ajax player continues to stall.
Rabiot had fallen out of favour with the Turin club, with just one year left on his contract and the club was hoping to cash in on his transfer.
At this rate Man United should just sign Rabiot’s mother instead.
