The Interior ministry has been allocated Sh2.4B in the supplementary estimates for the year ending June 2016.
Interior Cabinet secretary Joseph Nkaissery today said the money will be used to fund the Administration Police (AP), the Kenya Police Service (KPS) and operations at the office of the president.
He said Sh 1.76B will go the KPS out of which Sh 1.02B will fund the election related activities in the electioneering period including increased security requirements while Sh 734.4m will be used for the new recruits to take care of kitting and feeding expenses at the Kiganjo Training school for the same period.
The Administration Police on the other hand will get Sh 922.4m out of which Sh432.8m will be for security operations while Sh 489.7m will be for training related expenses for the new recruits for May to June.
On the other hand the office of the president will get an additional funding of Sh 661m. Out of this, Sh543m will be used to fund the government’s field security operations, Sh50m will fund the national disaster operation center and Sh 68m for compensation of legal claims.
