The Deputy President William Ruto expressed his frustration with President Uhuru Kenyatta and other senior government officers on plots to deter and rig him out on the coming elections.
In a press briefing at his official residence in Karen, before embarking on his final rallies in Makueni, Mombasa and Kilifi, the Deputy President attacked President Kenyatta for popularising Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.
Ruto claims his competitors for the race to State House are sensing defeat. The DP insists that his presidential ambition is a dream whose time has come and that none of his opponents were going to come between him and the presidency.
He pointed an accusing finger to President Uhuru, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Mohamed Maalim, County Commissioners Samson Ojwang’of Trans Nzioa, Stephen Kihara of Uasin Gishu and Erustus Mbui of Nakuru as being part of a scheme to spread and propagate fear among the Rift Valley residents.
“Recently, the president met people in Nakuru and the outcome of that meeting is not good for our country,” claimed Ruto. “In addition to threats to members of my team, what is emerging from those meetings is eventually the leaflets you see,” he alleged.
Ruto has dared the Director General of the National Intelligence Service Major General Philip Wachira Kameru to come clear on what is going on regarding, electoral preparedness, injustices, violence and conflict and its role in the whole electioneering process.
“We cannot sit pretty and see the same things that have happened in Kenya happen again, we committed ourselves after 2007 that we will never ever again go back to the politics of ethnicity, division and violence,” Ruto added.
Insinuating there was a plan to switch off power and internet, the DP called upon Eng. Jared Otieno Ag. Managing Director & CEO Kenya Power and the Chief Executive Officers, and Communications Authority Ezra Chiloba to exercise their duty diligently and accordingly.
Ruto called for intervention from the International Community.
