Waihiga Mwaure, Agano Party presidential candidate yesterday urged President Uhuru Kenyatta not to sway the coming General Elections to favour Raila Odinga.
Speaking to the press, Mwaure asked the president not to use public funds in order to influence next week’s voting process. Uhuru should let Kenyans make their own choice, he should not impose upon the people his candidate of choice.
“I am asking you [Uhuru] personally as a presidential candidate to confirm to Kenyans that you or the ‘Deep State’ around you will not influence elections towards your preferred candidate,” he said.
He further encouraged Kenyans to be peaceful during the election period and also implored the Electoral Commission to ensure the elections are credible and transparent. According to him, this is necessary in order to avoid the repeat of post-election violence witnessed every election year.
Mwaure maintained that he would win the coming presidential elections. After clinching the seat, he would appoint Fred Matiang’i, George Magoha, Roots Party deputy flagbearer Justina Wamae, Raila’s wife, Ida Odinga, and Deputy President William Ruto’s wife, Rachel Ruto as his cabinet secretaries.
