President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza brigade to hold their political ambitions and allow Raila to lead the country, stating that his support is firmly behind the Azimio’s flag bearer.
Speaking in Mombasa, the president lauded the ODM party leader for supporting his government’s development projects after the Deputy President William Ruto had allegedly abdicated his duties.
The president also defended his handshake with Raila saying it had helped him deliver on most of the Jubilee government’s promises to Kenyans.
“Lies and chest-thumping can’t bring leadership, let them wait first. Let them allow Raila to lead us, the rest can slow down their ambitions and eventually they will get there,” he said.
Kenyatta further urged the residents to be wary of politicians who peddle lies to the masses in order to gain an advantage, especially during this election period. He said that only a government headed by Raila could bring gains to the country and add to the projects that he, the president had started.
The president who was accompanied by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho launched several projects in the county. He opened the Mombasa Commuter Railway Sh85billion Changamwe interchange, Mombasa Kwa Jomvu road and Sh4.5billion Makupa Bridge.
He had earlier commissioned the new Kipevu Oil Terminal, a groundbreaking state-of-the-art facility constructed to enhance the Port’s capacity to deliver oil products efficiently. This would help ease the increased demand of the commodity in the region.
