Five families from Turi trading centre in Molo constituency were last night forced to sleep in the cold after a fierce inferno gutted down their houses last night.
The fire whose causes was not immediately established gutted down the timber houses to ashes.
One of the eye witnesses James Mwangi narrated how the fire started at around 7:30 PM last evening.
“We heard screams and rushed to the scene to assist put off the fire,” he said.
He said the lack of a fire engine in the area has led to huge losses when fires occur.
“We have had many cases of fire breakouts in the area and this being a dry spell, huge losses are reported because everything is engulfed in the flames,” he added.
Another resident John Ndirangu asked the County Government of Nakuru to avail a fire engine in the area to fight the many fires that occur.
“We tried to put off the fire to no avail because there is no water during this dry spell and the strong winds hampered our efforts,” he said.
