MoH records 49 new Covid-19 cases, positivity rate stands at 2.7 per cent

The Ministry of Health has recorded 49 news Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 1,836 tested in the last 24 hours.

The daily surveillance mow puts the country’s positivity rate is at 2.7 per cent.

“There are 53 patients currently admitted in our health facilities, while 539 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. No patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Another 13 are in the General Wards and are all on supplemental oxygen. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU),” Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said.

So far, the total number of confirmed cases in the country now stand at 337, 599 from 3,819,910 cumulative tests conducted since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020.

From the new cases, 45 are Kenyan nationals while four are foreigners with 37 being male while 12 females were confirmed to have contracted the virus.

Another 101 patients have recovered from the disease, 99 from the home based and isolation care program while two are from various health facilities countrywide pushing the total number of recoveries to 331,335.

A total of 277,798 recoveries are from the home based care while 53, 537 are from various health facilities countrywide.

No patient has succumbed to the disease therefore the cumulative fatalities remain 5,672.

A total of 20, 350, 479 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, 17, 404 are doses administered to the adult population.

Another 1,792,989 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years, 230,334 are below 15 years but above 12 years while 922,976 are booster doses.

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 147,239 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 41,347.

The proportion of adults fully vaccinated stands at 33 per cent.
