Chinese Vice Foreign Minister, Liu Zhenmin has defended the Kenyan government for borrowing from his country to fund various projects such as the Standard Gauge Railway.
He said that projects being undertaken by the Kenyan government cannot be described as a burden since they are to benefit the country in the long run.
The Vice Foreign Minister lauded the growing cooperation between China and Kenya, saying that his country views Kenya as an important link in Africa.
He expressed optimism that the economic and political cooperation between the two countries will help Kenya achieve its Vision 2030 targets.
Speaking just hours after the Chinese-made trains made the maiden roll on the the Asian country’s built Standard gauge railway from Mombasa to Nairobi, Zhenmin said more benefits for East Africa’s largest economy are in the offing.
