Former Wazito Football Club (FC) speedy winger James Kinyanjui is set to be unveiled as the new Bandari FC player ahead of the fast-approaching new season.
Kinyanjui who has joined the Mombasa based club after his former paymasters failed to pay his dues amounting to over 500,00.
In an interview with People Daily Kinyanjui could not hide his joy after putting pen to paper ahead of his new assignment in the coastal town.
“I love new challenges and I believe this is a good move towards my growth and moving to the next level as a player,” Kinyanjui said.
When asked about his new team and teammates and what he expects, Kinyanjui believes his side have enough in their armoury this season to clinch the Kenya Premier League that evaded them in the just concluded season.
“It’s a new season, and we have to pick ourselves up and given it’s a new season we have to be at our best in terms of energy, and how we approach the fixtures and I know that we can launch a worth competition to our challengers,” Kinyanjui said.
The former Thika and Mathare United player is renowned for his speed, skills and understanding of the game.
Kinyanjui is expected to join his new teammates ahead of a gruesome season.
He will be joined by another prospect in the Kenyan football Fidel Origa who also switched sides from Wazito to Bandari.
Kinyanjui kicked off his professional career straight after high school, when he joined Kenya’s Premier League (KPL) club Thika United FC for the 2017 season as a winger.
During the two seasons he played for Thika United, James quickly became one of their key and consistent players, with more than 48 full matches of playtime and four assists.
In 2018 Kinyanjui’s efforts were quickly noticed by Kenya’s national team, the famous Harambee Stars, when he earned his first cap for the Under 23 squad while only nineteen.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Transition Committee has confirmed that the Kenya Premier League (KPL) season will commence on August 27, 2022.
This comes just two months after last season’s campaign that saw Tusker Football Club (FC) crowned the champions.
