Kenya record 392 new Covid infections as positivity rate stands at 12.56 per cent

The country has today recorded 392 positive Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 3,124 tested in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate is now at 12.5 per cent.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Health, the new cases include 357 Kenyans and 35 foreigners out of which 204 are males and 188 females.

Total confirmed cases are now 333,290 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,753,920.

The other cases are distributed in counties as follows; Murang’a 11, Nairobi 169, Nakuru 43, Siaya 27, Kilifi 22, Kiambu 21, Mombasa 17, Trans Nzoia 12, Uasin Gishu 11, Kisumu 9, Garissa 6, Kericho 6, Kissi 5, Nyamira 5, Tana River 5, Nyeri 4, Kajiado 3, Kakamega 3 Homa Bay 2, Kwale 2, Laikipia 2, Meru 2, Narok 2, Embu, Baringo and Bungoma each one case.

Additionally, 246 patients have recovered from the disease, 230 are from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program while 16 are from various health facilities countrywide.

“This pushes the total recoveries to 323,701 of whom 270,496 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,205 are from various health facilities countrywide,” stated the statement.

Fortunately, no patient has succumbed to the disease therefore the cumulative fatalities remain 5,652.

As of June 28th 2022, the ministry said a total of 18,787,525 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, 16,747,775 are doses administered to the adult population (18 years and above).

Another 1,532,457 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years, 42,380 are below 15 years but above 12 years while 464,913 are booster doses.

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 22,841 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 8,929.

“Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 31.8 per cent. The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033,” stated MoH.
