An 11-year-old boy is nursing serious body injuries after a corporal punishment by two teachers at Victonel Academy for failing to complete his homework on time.
According to the parents the teachers canned the pupils for two days and his condition was known when a relative went to visit him and noted he was walking with difficulties.
According to the mother of the class five pupils Phyllis Wanjiku, her son had bruises on the hands, face, buttocks and thigh.
“It was unfortunate incident that teachers we have given and entrusted our children can be this inhumane. We have reported the matter to police and the son is receiving treatment,” she added.
Speaking to the informer on phone, Victonell Academy Manager John Waweru acknowledged the unfortunate incident occurred but punitive measures were taken to the said teachers.
“It is an isolated case and most regrettable incident and we as the management have sacked the said teacher and the investigations will continue to see if there are other cases,” Waweru said.
