Two people are in police custody for illegally possessing weapons in Marakwet.
Abraham Kiptum and Brandon Kilimo were arrested yesterday as part of an operation that resulted in the confiscation of illegal weapons.
According to the National Police Service, officers launched an intelligence-led operation in Kiptum’s residence in Kaben Village, Marakwet East Sub-County.
Officers recovered 76 bullets, seven empty AK-47 magazines, four empty G-3 magazines, one AK-47 bag, and one side pouch after performing a thorough check.
Angola shirts, one jungle green lanyard, a forbidden industrial chemical called Furon 5GR, one APS member of inspectorate pullover, one green jungle pant, 43 arrows, seven bows, three quivers, and various personal goods were among the other items found.
Members of the public have been praised by the police service for being vigilant and providing information to security officials.
“We urge people to continue collaborating with security officials in the spirit of community policing so that peace and security can be fully restored in the region,” the NPS added.
The two were brought to the Marakwet Police Station, where they will await further police action.
