Kitui deputy Governor Peninah Malonza who was recently dropped by Governor Julius Malombe in favour of trade unionist Agnes Kambua will be Senator David Musila’s running mate.
Addressing a campaign rally in Mutomo today, Musila said re settled on the DG because of her leadership qualities and also for continuity of administration in the county executive having served in the same position during Governor Malombe’s administration.
Musila said Ms Malonza despite her high integrity has not been frustrated by the outgoing county administration through isolation, denial of duty and intimidation therefore need to help her retain the position if he wins.
Musila’s move to appoint Malonza who hails from Kitui South appears to neutralize the settlement of governor Malombe on Ms Kambua who comes from Mwingi North region.
” The gubernatorial race is turning to be regional battle between the larger Mwingi District and the larger Kitui and my selection of Malonza is basically for regional balancing,” said Musila,
