The Informer Football Club won the fourth edition of the Tucheze Five-A-side tournament held at the Mount Kenya University (MKU) indoor arena in Thika, Kiambu county.
A 1-0 scoreline win over Icon FC was enough to see the newly formed football club win the coveted title.
On their way to the finals, the Benson Mbare-coached side knocked out worthy competitors like Utalii FC who were the defending champions during the JKUAT Edition.
The Informer also knocked out the Machel Waikenda FC who were the winners during the KCA edition before going on to eliminate E-Hub FC in the semi-finals.
Kenya Premier League and Wazito playmaker James Kinyanjui featured for the champions before sustaining an injury.
Edwin Njue, Jeff Maina, and Ephraim Maina were all on target for the champions with Jeff scooping the best goalkeeper award and at the same time earning himself a shopping voucher.
Maina who captained the team to its first silverware thanked his boys for the impressive performance while at the same time urging his opponents it’s just the beginning of greater things ahead.
“My boys showed intent by knocking out worthy competitors who were both champions, and from there we rolled our sleeves to get the job done, this can only be the beginning of greater things ahead for this team,” Maina said.
Edwin Njue who was voted the Most Valuable player thanked the coach and his teammates at large for the opportunity to showcase his prowess on the field.
The top Scorer was Brian Otara (Utalii) with 8 goals.

The tournament which takes place after every three months was staged on the theme of (Let Peace Win) which aimed to sensitize the youth to always maintain peace during this electioneering period.
The total number of participating teams were 24 teams in the competitive category. Four teams in the corporate category, making it a total of 28 teams.
The winner of the competitive category walked home with Sh20,000 with the corporate category scooping Sh10,000.
Top Scorer, Best Goalkeeper, and best player shopping vouchers worth Sh5,000 each.
