Waita tells off Kalonzo for asking him to step down
Nzioka Waita, seeking to clinch the governorship of Machakos county, has told off Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka who asked him to shelve his ambition in favor of Wavinya Ndeti.
Nzioka, vying using the Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) party, has asked the Wiper leader to concentrate on National politics and give the people of Machakos a chance to decide the leader they want on the ballot.
“I keep saying the people of Machakos will decide for themselves who they want as their Governor . Attempts to force an endorsement for my competitor fell flat on its face,” stated Waita.
Kalonzo, while hosting the Azimio One Kenya coalition team during the weekend, said he was considering consolidating the Kamba vote by asking Waita to step down.
The Azimio One Kenya team was led by their presidential aspirant Raila Odinga.
“Our Wiper team is strong and our candidate Wavinya is doing well, the rest we will talk to them, Nzioka is my friend and I will talk to him,” Kalonzo stated.
The battle for Machokos has attracted political heavyweights. Nzoika Waita and Wavinya Ndeti are both in the Azimio One Kenya coalition. Other candidates vying for the same seat are Johnson Muthama, the UDA Chairman, and Machakos, DG Francis Maliti (Maendeleo Chap Chap).
Interesting to note Muthama and Maliti are both in the Kenya Kwanza alliance.
