Veteran rugby player Collins Injera silenced his critics after staging an explosive performance against Eastern Province Elephants at the RFUEA grounds.
This is after an uproar among a section of fans who felt he did not deserve a slot in the squad given his age and lack of playtime in the national team.
Injera who is Shujaa’s all-time leading scorer had been absent from the international scene for some time, with his most recent international appearance being at the Tokyo Olympics.
His last 15s appearance before the EP Elephants match was in the 2018 Rugby World Cup Repêchage.
Injera, who has been engaged in playing golf since his last assignment with the national team, said in a Facebook post other people’s opinions did not matter that much to him.
“Someone’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality, have a great week ahead, full of positive vibes,” Injera said.
Injera, who was among the scorers, celebrated his try while playing golf to silence his critics who had persecuted him for playing golf.
The Paul Odera-coached side saved their best performance in the Currie Cup Division One tournament for their last fixture against EP Elephants as they staged a brilliant come-from-behind win to reign supreme over the South African outfit.
Simba showed mentality, resolve, and utmost grit to clinch a 41-24 victory at full time that left the determined home fans with nothing but praise for the national team.
Following the successful completion of their Currie Cup Division One tournament, the Simbas will now begin preparations for their 2023 Rugby World Cup qualifiers.
The qualifiers will take place in France from 1-10 July.
