A swarm of bees assaulted three men suspected of stealing livestock in Emusanda village in Kakamega County yesterday.
According to a police report, Hillary Momanyi, 22, John Bukhazio, 28, and Wilnstom Mutiele, 20, were sighted near the station at 11:30 a.m. with a cow and a goat allegedly taken from one Imbiaka Tolibert.
The three suspects voluntarily returned a goat and a calf after being attacked by a swarm of bees, reportedly at the witch doctor’s command, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
“He reported that his calf and a goat had been stolen on Wednesday at Shibuli police post,” the police said.
According to the DCI, the witch doctor took control of his bees before handing up the apologetic criminals to authorities. The animals’ owner emerged and positively identified his stock as the witch doctor who took ownership of his bees.
“Today, three youths emerged having been attacked by a swarm of bees. They were found in possession of the cow, while one was carrying a goat on his shoulders,” the police said.
All from Mumias East Sub-county, the three suspects were apprehended and are currently in custody awaiting arraignment.
