A 60-year-old man is currently nursing injuries in a Nakuru hospital after being attacked by his neighbour over his own land.
Joseph Kebenei had driven to his farm at Mawe Mbili in Mau to check on it when he found a man identified as Charles Cheregony, 61 sloughing it.
According to DCI, when Kebenei sought to establish from Cheregony why he was cultivating his piece of land, the latter descended on him armed with a jembe.
“The screams attracted other villagers who left their grazing livestock unattended and joined in the attack, seriously injuring the victim. They then gathered a heap of dry maize stalks on the man’s vehicle, a white Toyota probox and senselessly set it ablaze,” DCI said.
Good Samaritans took hold of Kebenei from the crowd and rushed him to Elburgon Police station where he filed a report before being rushed to hospital.
“Officers based at Elburgon police station who had since been joined by their Molo counterparts, visited the scene of the incident only to find a shell of what was once Kebenei’s Toyota probox,” DCI said.
Kebenei is currently hospitalized at the Elburgon Sub-County hospital in Nakuru county while the suspect was immediately arrested and placed in custody awaiting to be arraigned in court to answer to his crimes.
