Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki has said he will take a break from elective politics from 10th August 2022.
In a press conference held at a hotel in Nairobi, he said he will not seek any appointive seat in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance (KKA) noting that he will stay a member of the United Democratic Alliance and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance as he believes they will form the next administration.
“I have taken a decision to take a break from elective politics. I will take the break to reorganise myself as I support my party to deliver the presidency,” he said.
He vowed his support for the Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua, who Deputy President William Ruto announced as his running mate yesterday.
“Earlier today I had the privilege of having a conversation with Gachagua. His brilliance has paid off at the party. I have wished him well and I have pledged my total and honest commitment to him and DP Ruto,” Kindiki said.
However, he asked his supporters to vote for Ruto and Gachagua, his running partner, in the presidential election.
Kindiki stated that he will remain in Kenya Kwanza Alliance to continue their dream for Kenyans.
“It was not about me as a person, it was about us as a team,” he said.
