Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has picked David Kones as her running mate in the race for the Nakuru governorship in the upcoming August elections.
Speaking today, Kihika said Kones was picked after a rigorous vetting process of 16 candidates, in which he turned out as an outstanding contender.
“After going through a rigorous exercise, we have nominated David Kones. He will be my running mate for the gubernatorial seat for Nakuru county under UDA and Kenya Kwanza coalition,” she said.
“We have been having a few weeks of back-and-forth interviews and vetting of extremely qualified candidates who had offered themselves to be my running mate,” she added.
She thanked all those who presented themselves in a bid to deputise her if elected governor of Nakuru county.
This comes as gubernatorial candidates rush to meet the set deadline by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to present their running mates by today midnight.
Kones is an educationist who served as a High School Principal and has a degree in conflict management. He hails from Kiptagich in Kuresoi South.
