Kisii county gubernatorial aspirant, Senator Chris Obure has dismissed his his rival Alfred Akunga as a joker , for boycotting Jubilee Party’s gubernatorial nominations,.
Obure, who cast his vote at Sameta buying Centre said it was ridiculous for Akunga to assume the exercise after the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal gave them a green light to conduct the exercise.
Speaking at the centre, he said him and other petitioners went to court and asked for the nominations, stressing boycotting the exercise is playing with the minds of the local residents.
“ The petitioners were aware of the nominations. They cannot again pretend that they did know it. They seem to be confused ” noted Obure.
He appealed to voters to turn in large numbers, vote peacefully and nominate a person to be Jubilee Party’s flag bearer and elect in the August 8 general polls to aid enhance development in the county.
Obure, who is the County’s Senator said he was forced to shelve the burial of his brother William Obure on Friday to participate in the exercise and it was wrong for his rival to shun it.
County Returning Officer, Joshua Onduso said the exercise began at all the Centres on time and security had been beefed up to ensure the exercise is smooth and peaceful.
Onduso appealed to voters to go the Centres early, vote and leave the polling centres and assured them it will be free and fair.
