The key suspect accused of masterminding a sexual assault on a female diplomat on Wangari Maathai Road alongside sixteen boda boda operators has been detained until Monday next week.
This is after the Director of Public Prosecutions filed an application today seeking more time to peruse their file before advising on the way forward.
The DPP will issue his complete decision on whether to charge them or not.
Those to be detained include the alleged ‘mastermind’ Zachariah Nyaore Obadiah who was arrested on the Kenyan border with Tanzania by DCI detectives, James Mutinda Muema, Samuel Wafula Muswahili, Charles Omondi Were, Japheth Bosire Obano, Hassan Farah Forah, Wanjuki Lincon Kinyanjuhi, Joseph Ngugi Mburu, Lenson Fundi Njuriri, Harrison Maina Irungu, Benjamin Ngure Githinji, Ignatius Shitekha Mufwolobo, Martin Kamau Maina, Shadrack Ambia Luyeku, Shadrack Kioko Nyamai, Cliff Gikobi Oyaro and Joseph Kibui Mukambi.
The accused are said to be cooperating with police by revealing details of what transpired during that day.
The prosecution informed the court that investigations into the matter are complete and the file was today morning forwarded to the DPP for further action.
According to police reports, the riders sexually assaulted the female motorists in the Parklands area before stealing her mobile phone worth Sh130,000.
The victim said that she was driving along the said area and was involved in a road accident with a boda boda rider.
“The suspects are boda boda riders who operate at Barabara Tano stage and their place of abode is not known releasing them will jeopardise the ongoing investigations,” said inspector Mwanzia.
