Jimmy Wanjigi will be the Safina Party presidential candidate in the August 9 presidential elections. The deep-pocketed politician joined the Safina party after being dumped by his former home, the ODM party, where he had been a critical member and financier.
With a tag line Safina Safi, Wanjigi was adamant that he had forgiven the ODM party and all the harassments he had received from members of the party due to his recent political stand.
He welcomed nominations for being the party’s Presidential candidate.
“I’m a man who believes in competition. I will be seeking the Safina party ticket during the party’s National Delegates Convention (NDC),” he said.
While Paul Muite welcomed Wanjigi, Kabando wa Kabando was no longer boarding the Safina ship.
Kabando’s decision to leave the party did receive much attention as the party was in a celebratory mode and did not want to disrupt the welcoming ceremony for the new member.
It is alleged that Muite has sold the party to Wanjigi. This, however, is yet to be confirmed nor denied by the two political leaders.
