Kanu leader Gideon Moi has threatened to leave One Kenya Alliance (OKA) for Azimio la Umoja if Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka does not join the outfit by Saturday.
The Azimio camp has planned to have a full event this weekend, with the group expected to have a national delegates convention on Saturday.
They are expected to hold a rally in the afternoon at the Moi International Sports Complex, Kasarani.
Apart from the individual parties signing agreements on how to work together in the future, it is expected that at the NDC Raila Odinga shall be named the man flying the coalition’s banner in the August 9 elections.
Even as the threats come in quick and fast, there are talks that Kalonzo’s team has been secretly meeting the Raila team to negotiate a good deal.
According to Nick Salat, Kanu secretary-general, it is evident that the one delaying the talks is Kalonzo, and his party Kanu has no option other than joining Azimio with or without the other OKA partners.
Salat was speaking during the launch of the Kanu manifesto at the Kabarnet Gardens in Nairobi.
Kalonzo had in the last few days asked Raila to ensure that he fulfills the Nasa pact that had been agreed upon before the 2017 general election.
The agreement was that Odinga would run for the 2017 general election but support Kalonzo in 2022 whether he wins or not!
OKA consists of Gideon Moi of Kanu, Narc-Kenya’s Martha Karua, Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, and Cyrus Jirongo’s United Democratic Party.
