A 21-year-old domestic worker has been sentenced to life in prison after she was found guilty of defiling a boy, 4, and filming the act for sale online.
Edda Wakesho confessed to filming herself defiling a four-year-old boy and posting it online for financial gain.
Senior Resident Magistrate Florence Macharia yesterday handed her with a life sentence after she pleaded guilty for defiling the boy and a further 10 years for filming the act.
“The sentences will run concurrently,” Macharia ordered.
She committed the offence between June and October, last year.
According to the investigating officer, the accused is part of a child pornography syndicate that collaborates with rogue house helps to abuse children and film the acts.
Wakesho in her defense said that she innocently accepted a friend request from Facebook and was introduced to a page where people post nude photos and videos.
The convict said she was recruited into the syndicate with a promise of being paid lots of money.
Wakesho was recruited into the Illuminati, believed to be a devil worshipping group with huge financial benefits, by someone identified as Joshua.
“I was then instructed to send nude photos and videos. They also instructed me to masturbate on camera and share the videos. I did exactly that with the hope that I would be paid at the end of the month,” she told the court.
According to her, Joshua threatened to kill her if she failed to follow his instructions. He later instructed her to sexually assault the minor in her care, film the act and send the video clip to a foreign number. She followed the instructions and this continued for months.
However, the convict decided to quit. Shortly after quitting, the pornographic clips were shared with the mother.
The court heard that the minor’s mother received a video clip of the wicked act from a foreign mobile number.
The stranger threatened to post the videos on social media if the mother failed to send an undisclosed amount of money.
The mother tried to reach out to Wakesho but could not reach her since her phone was switched off. The mother reported the matter to Bamburi Police Station and with the help of her friends, who are into porn, Wakesho was traced and arrested.
Her phone was confiscated and forwarded to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Nairobi for forensic analysis, which showed she had sent the video clips to several foreign numbers and had actually received payments.
She was arraigned in Shanzu in January where she pleaded guilty.
In her mitigation, Wakesho told the court that she was remorseful and that she had resorted to committing the offences to make ends meet.
