Kalonzo Musyoka during a press briefing on 1/03/2022 spat venom, disclosing a list of agreements that were the backbone and guiding principles of the formation of the NASA coalition during the 2017 general election. Standing behind him from his political backyard to provide support both legally and politically were Makueni senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior and Daniel Maanzo Makueni Member of Parliament to mention but a few.
Kalonzo now says that the NASA coalition agreements have to be respected, even as the talks over the engagement for the Azimio-Oka partnership progresses.
A critical part of the article of the agreement mentioned by Kalonzo was that the principle (H) referring to Raila Odinga was to serve for a single term after which he would publicly endorse principle (Q) Kalonzo Musyoka as the presidential candidate for the 2022 general election.
According to Kalonzo, the agreement was to be binding whether the former primer was to clinch the presidency or not.
Kalonzo frustrated by futile attempts to meet Raila over the breach of the Agreement through Prof Makau Mutua who is and was his point man during the birth of the pact, is what has led to his spilling the beans.
However, he retaliates his commitment to the good of the country by saying he is ready to work with Raila if the said articles of agreement are the basis of the negotiations.
“I ask Kenyans to engage in honest conversation on this document. I do this not because I want anything personal or that I am seeking sympathy but an honest engagement…” Kalonzo Musyoka.
In response to Kalonzo, Herman Manyora a political analyst raises a query on the eligibility of the pact considering that Kalonzo and the other three principals of the NASA coalition had already dissolved the pact considering it as a non-starter in the political arena then!
Lawyer Donald Kipkorir echoed Manyora’s statement stating that NASA died when then three of the affiliated parties, Wiper, Ford K, ANC left to join OKA and UDA.
