A five-year-old boy died on the spot today after he was hit by a lorry while crossing the road at Kabunde Airstrip on the Homa Bay-Rongo road.
Javan Odhiambo died when he was knocked down by the vehicle as he was traveling from Rodi
Kopany trading center to Homa Bay Town.
Witnesses said the minor was in the company of other four children who were said to be paying by the roadside.
The accident occurred when the minor tried to cross the road at a section that is now said to be a black spot.
Homa Bay Town police boss Esau Ochrokodi confirmed the incident saying the section of the road has claimed several lives because of the terrain of the land that causes poor visibility of vehicles.
“Several accidents are reported at Kabunde because of the topography of the land. Motorists and pedestrians from either sides cannot see what is in the side because the land is raised at the middle,” he said.
The officer advised motorists to be very cautious at the said section warning that those caught overspending will be arrested and prosecuted.
