The tussle between Murang’a senator Kembi Gitura and Kiharu Mp Irungu Kanga’ata over the jubilee nominations may not end any time soon after the former filed an appeal to the party’s tribunal to have the exercise repeated.
Kembi who has refused to concede defeat alleges that the exercise was marred with malpractices and thus Kang’ata did not win fairly.
In his petition wants the tribunal to compel the party have the exercise repeated in in Kiharu and Mathioya constituencies where he alleges the rigging took place.
Kembi, who is also the deputy senate speaker claims that he had more votes in 22 wards out of the 35 in the county, wondering how Kanga’ta could have beaten him in the final tally.
“The exercise was total shum and we are disappointed to have invested a lot of our time and resources in the party only to end up having such a ridiculous exercise” he remarked.
Kembi lost his chance to defend his seat using the jubilee ticket to Kiharu MP Irungu Kang’ata after getting 146,207 against 158,164.
